And the sea reminded me of her..
Guys, I am back! Feeling rejuvenated and refreshed! Tioman was god damn fun! Quite a number of photos to show for and loads of fun and laughter over there! Not forgetting the lobster tan that I have always been craving for! Although I fell sick even before I got there, I tried to make the best out of it! I have no idea where to start, but well, I shall try to recreate a day by day account of the happenings over at Tioman.
Day 1- It was a long and tedious journey to our destination. We actually started our journey at around 6 plus in the morning and with a few stopovers, we reached the island at around 2 in the afternoon. The weather was disappointing to say the least. It seemed like pouring anytime and our stomachs were growling.
Not exactly what you would call fine weather.
Our resort!
Comfy beds!
After we put down our bags, we hopped over to the nearest AND MOST EXPENSIVE restaurant for lunch. I ordered Nasi Goreng and almost died of spiciness! Our dear Serene got a bit more chili than she could handle. She squeezed the chili bottle so hard that the cap just popped out! What a scene! And what a mess! Haha..
The over-priced restaurant.
Serene had an insatiable appetite for chili sauce.
The Goondos..
And Chio Bus??!
After lunch, we went for some Ice-Kachang and took some photos over there as well.
Outside the restaurant.
The Ice-Kachang hut!
There you go!
Day 2- We got up at around 9am, snoozed for 30 minutes, washed up for 15 minutes and then realized that breakfast closes at 10. Damn it. By the time we got there, there were like a few pieces of potatoes, few strands of noodles, one piece of Roti Prata, 2 pineapple cubes and 3 slices of watermelon left. Thank god the uncle was kind enough to cook another big tray of noodles for us.
The not- so- early birds get no worms.
After breakfast, we got changed and started lazing around on the beach. We played some beach volleyball, took some photos, doing nothing in particular. The feeling was amazing. Relaxing and de-stressing. I could do this everyday!
With the gals!
Whats up doc?
We went back to our 'nest' in the late afternoon and started getting intellectual.
Kenny had a personal grudge against mahjong.
In the evening, I had a craving for fried rice and I went out alone to buy. That was when I took this breathtaking scene of the sunset. I simply love this picture. Its just so.. picture-perfect!
Loving it!
When the sun looks into the sea.
A few of the K-frantics (me included) went to the KTV lounge that night. Guess who we saw??
Jay Chou! He is mesmerising!
Serene says, "Bernard! higher pitch but stop killing chickens will ya?"
Day 3- We got up earlier than usual as the guys decided to go snorkeling. We had our breakfast, got changed and ready by 9, all set to venture out to the nearby islands! Which means I can fully exhaust my camera!
Setting off!
One of the many sky shots.
The trip took over an hour and by the time we reached there, the sun was blazing. The rest of the guys got changed and dropped down into the water, leaving me and Jojo on board. Well. We had fun chatting and taking photos. We even managed to pick up a little cutie from Hong Kong! Her name is Meko!
Our destination!
Having a splashing good time!
Introducing Meko!
The gals wanted a piece of her as well.
After the snorkeling session, the boatman brought us to a nearby island to have our lunch. By then, the sun was scorching hot and I could feel myself on the barbecue pit. Oh yeah, and check out this school of fish!
The School of Fish.
I had totally disgusting hardened rice for lunch but as I was hungry, I didn’t think too much about it. We bought some souvenirs on our way back. I guess that the boatman was in a good mood as he suggested bringing us to another spot for snorkeling. The guys went down as usual and I chose my spot for some tanning. Haha..
Nearing our spot.
Whos who?
Institute of Mental Health wannabes.
Far far away.. In the South China Sea..
Pirate of the not-so-Caribbean
John trying out the zoom function.
Jojo requested this pic. And I am not gay!!
We got back at around 4 in the afternoon, got intellectual again and then went for a sumptuous seafood dinner! On our way there, Kenny took a splendid shot of the lighting and thunderous sky. Wow. I couldn’t get a good shot with my camera. Damn.
Marvellous.
Day 4- We had our breakfast before checking out. We did some last minute shopping and took our last pictures on the island. I was reluctant to leave, but well.. I guess I did enjoy myself and its about time to return to reality.
Cannonboy gives his parting shot.
I wouldnt mind being stranded on Tioman
like this boat.
On our way back!
We alighted at Newton food centre, hoping to fill our empty stomachs. But all we got was this banner. I couldnt figure out the English at first. Upon closer inspection.. I realised that hungry ghost is also known as 7th moon festival. A direct translation from the Chinese term, 'Qi yue'.. Haha..
If it was 'Shen Dan Jie' in December,
the banner would probably read 'laying eggs festival'
